The Washington Wizards are an American professional basketball team based in Washington, D.C. They compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the league's Eastern Conference. The team was founded in 1961 as the Chicago Packers and has since changed names several times before becoming the Washington Wizards in 1997. The Wizards have won one NBA championship in their history, in 1978, when they were still known as the Washington Bullets. Some of the notable players in Wizards/Bullets history include Wes Unseld, Elvin Hayes, and John Wall.
